Blended learning on Fundraising and Internationalization for ANTENA’s partners

The ANTENA project held yesterday (Jan 12th) and today (Jan 13th) the first part of training workshops 3 and 4 on Fundraising opportunities and Project management, and Internationalization and Globalization respectively.

Both workshops are coordinated by the Institutional Project Management Office of the University of Alicante and will be delivered in two phases. The first phase was held online and was attended by 48 people from 10 Philippine universities, the CHED and the 3 European partner institutions: EFMD, UM and the UA.

The third workshop, Fundraising opportunities and Project management, was prepared by the UA team. It was divided into three theoretical parts. The first part was on International Fundraising for HEIs, delivered by Dr. Roberto Escarré, Director of OGPI, who shared interesting information about the fundraising process, the sources of funding for HEIs, the main activities funded by donors, among other points related to the topic.

The second part was led by Carolina Madeleine, Head of Institutional Projects at OGPI, who explained the Opportunities for CBHE in Asia, specifically for the 2022 Erasmus + programme call. Madeleine highlighted the priorities of the programme for the period 2021 - 2027, the eligible Asian countries, the type of projects and the selection criteria.

The third and last part was in charge of Gabriela Castillo, Project Manager at OGPI, who shared the importance of project financial management, the budget allocated by the EU for the development of cooperation projects, news in the financial modalities of CBHE projects for the 2022 call, as well as some advice and recommendations to achieve an efficient implementation of international projects from a financial perspective.

Training Workshop 4: Internationalization and Globalization was prepared by the EFMD team and presented by Dr. Christophe Terrasse, Director at EFMD. It was a dynamic session, in which the difference between internationalization and globalization was explained in an original way. The “main course” was how to develop the internationalization of the participating institutions through internationalization at home, internationalization of the curriculum and internationalization abroad. Finally, Dr. Terrasse shared a brief summary of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) tool and encouraged all participants to evaluate the state of internationalization in their institutions.

Seminar 4 gave all participants useful tools to deepen and reflect on the subject. Through videos and group discussions, attendees were offered the possibility of interacting and sharing the reality of each institution to incorporate activities that promote the internationalization of Philippine HEIs into their professional and institutional action plan.

The second phase of both workshops will be practical sessions face-to-face in the Philippines. Participants will complete the experience with cases studies that facilitate the understanding and adaptability of the topics to the Philippine context.
