WIR Project - 8th Seminar on Communication and Stereotypes in Dietzenbach
From 21st-24th May 2019 researchers from University of Alicante took part in a seminar on Communication and Stereotypes hold in Dietzenbach (Germany). This activity was the 8th seminar developed in the context of WIR Project, a project funded by the Europe for Citizens Programme (European Commission) focusing on the challenge of facing the migration phenomenon and the welcoming and integration of refugees. This project is developed by a large partnership composed of 7 European countries (Sweden, Italy, Latvia, Germany, Spain, Austria, Finland) with 6 public authorities, 2 associations and one University.
The seminar started with a welcome session with authorities from Kreis Offenbach region and the City of Dietzenbach. During the seminar presentations and working sessions the partners had opportunity to know about remarkable initiatives carried out in the field welcoming and integrations of refugees, such as Chance Handwerk, the Ernst-Reuter School or the Haus der Integration, among others.
During the working sessions, the European expert taking part on the seminar discussed about two key topics for Europe: Communicating the migrant’s crisis in Europe and its influence on the EU policy And the Effects and consequences on European citiziens of misguided narratives about the refugee’s issue.
