The second IHEI Workshop ‘International Strategic Planning‘ organised in the framework of the IHEI project, financed by the European Commission through the ERASMUS+, took place on 19-21 April 2017 and was hosted by Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, in Mashhad, Iran.
The 20 representatives of the 6 Iranian and 2 European universities were welcome by Dr. Hashemi, FUM Vice President for Academic Affairs. Glasgow Caledonian University was the provider of the workshop attended by some representatives from Iranian Education and Foreign Affairs Ministries as well.

The International conference Third Age Education: East and West Experience is taking place between 21-22 of April in Baku (Azerbaijan) in the framework of TEMPUS CTAE project. The conference aims to disseminate the project best practices on creation and ensuring the institutional and financial sustainability of the national system of Centers of the 'Third Age" Education for the implementation of priority directions of the Madrid International Plan of Action on population ageing, as well as social, cultural and political contribution of senior people for community and their effective participation in the decision-making at all levels. University of Alicante, one of the CTAE project partners, is being represented by OGPI Project manager Olga Bloshchinska.

Digital technologies and new demands of learners and the labour market are the main drivers behind the process of changing the Global Education. However, several EU regions, higher education institutions and businesses appear to be not aware of the situation and might lose the connection to this rapid growth in the long term. Especially for the world of business a huge potential lies idle.

Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are the three countries on which the new European project takes its first steps this week at the University of Alicante (UA). REACT (strenghtening climate change REsearch And innovation Capacities in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam) aims to strengthen the area of research on climate change issues in these Asian countries. Coordinated by the UA and with the participation of 11 partners, the project is funded by the EU under the Erasmus + program and lasts for three years.

The next REACT meeting will be held in Laos in October, at the Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang.

The International Conference Fostering Cooperation in Energy Efficiency and Accessibility in East Africa, jointly organised by the ENRICH and Succeed Network projects, is taking place today 13th March and tomorrow at the Z Ocean Hotel Kihinani in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

 

The first IHEI training on "Globalisation vs Internationalisation" has just been completed with success. It has been celebrated at the University of Shiraz and delivered by Pablo López Alonso,  from Glasgow Caledonian University, and Ester Boldrini, Deputy Director of OGPI- University of Alicante, and with the active participation of the six partner Iranian Universities, but also representatives from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran.

These days, the 6th and 7th of March, the Kick of meeting of Erasmus+ project FREE NETWORK Fostering REsearch-based Entrepreneurship and the development of spin-off companies in Central America has taking place in the University of Alicante. The project, coordinated by the University of Alicante, involves partner universities from all the countries in Central America (Panamá, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Honduras) as well as two EU universities from Italy and United Kingdom.

The Kick off meeting is combined with a study visit to the University of Alicante on 8th and 9th March to exchange good practices and innovative ideas on the development and management of spin-off support units.

These days, the 27 of February - 1st of March, the Kick of meeting of Erasmus+ project SEASIN Southeast Asian Social Innovation Network is taking place in Glasgow Caledonian University. The project, under the coordination of GCU, involves partners from Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar as well as two EU universities from Spain and Portugal.

The SEASIN project directly responds to the societal challenges of South East Asian society and proposes the creation of specific units established within universities to support knowledge transfer for social innovation. The University of Alicante is represented by Víctor Climent and Olga Bloshchinska.

Today, Iván Rodríguez, Project Manager at the Technology Transfer Service of the University of Alicante, and Noelia López, Senior Project Manager at OGPI, are participating in the 1st National Workshop Brokerage event that is taking place at Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, in Vietnam, in the framework of the Erasmus+ project ENHANCE Strengthening National Research and Innovation Capacities in Vietnam. The main aim of this National Workshop is to strength the links between academia and industry fostering joint initiatives in the field of research and innovation. Following this 1st National Workshop, the 2nd Training Workshop Research Management will take place on Thursday and Friday.

The final meeting of the Erasmus+ project sportGO How to lead a sport club to a successful future has taken place in February 16th and 17th in Szombathely, Hungary. The main aim of the meeting was to present the results of the pilot training for amateur sport club managers conducted by each partner country (Austria, Hungary, Lithuania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia and Spain) in November and December 2016.

Noelia López, Senior Project Manager at OGPI, has participated in the meeting presenting the results of the pilot training conducted at the University of Alicante from 25th November to 10th December 2016. This pilot course was attended by 14 representatives from several amateur sports clubs in Alicante (athletics, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, indoor football, mountain, volleyball, swimming, etc.).
