On December 20th and 21st, 2018, took place in Beijing (China) the first Training of Trainers developed within the scope of CIPnet, the China Intellectual Property Management Network. CIPnet is the product of an Erasmus project aiming to promote the modernisation and harmonisation of Intellectual Property Management practices in the higher education system, with a view to enhance university-industry collaborations and contribute to economic and social development in China.
The topic of this first Training was “Regulations and Institutional Policies for a Successful Technology Transfer at HEIs”, and was organized and hosted by Law School of Renmin University of China.
The Horizon2020 research project FotoH2, is reaching the end of its first year, and the partners met on December 13 & 14, 2018, in the installations of partner CNR-ITAE in Messina to evaluate the work done in this year, and plan for the next months.
The discussions centered on the results of computational electrode material studies and the physical simulation of the photo-electrochemical reaction and planned the completion of the computational work package and the utilisation of gained knowledge for the prototyping work.
The consortium concluded that the project work is progressing according to the plan, and good results should be expected in time for the mid-term review next summer.
The FREE Network National Conference “The challenges of public policy to promote entrepreneurship and innovation based on knowledge generated in universities” took place in San José, Costa Rica on 5th December 2018 and over 150 participants came together from Central America.
The main objective of the conference was to promote the project visibility and present the project results, specifically the Innovation Support Offices (ISOs) Network that will be established in the framework of the project. Also, the aim of the conference was to raise awareness of the key role of the ISOs for supporting spin-off creation in Costa Rica and Central America. In this sense, the recently established ISOs from ULACIT (The Nest – Innovation Centre) and TEC (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre) were presented by Alejandra Quirós, Associate Director of External Affairs of ULACIT and Juan Carlos Carvajal, Director of the TEC Innovation Centre.
Thirty representatives of four Indonesian universities have visited the University of Alicante to work in the INSPIRE project, an erasmus+ project that aims to boost social entrepreneurship in Indonesian higher education institutions. Juan Llopis, Vice Chancellor of International Relations of the UA, welcomed the representatives from the Indonesian Universities involved in this project, which was launched in October 2017 and will end in 2020, aims to promote business mentality and innovation in higher education institutions in Indonesia, strengthening cooperation between the university and the company for a better employability of social entrepreneurs, and increase their relevance to the labor market and society.
The V2WORK project, coordinated by the University of Alicante, held its second training of trainers module at the Industrial University of Vinh, in Vinh City, Vietnam. The module, for Career Centre staff from eight universities in Vietnam, was delivered by staff from the University of Alicante and the University of Coimbra from October 16th to 18th.

Offering knowledge on methodologies and tools for the analysis of labour markets.
Identifying different strategies for university observatories to improve the career centres’ ability to prepare students and graduates for the labour market.
Identifying ways to use the labour observatories’ outputs to assess the universities in terms of employability of their students and graduates.

Este curso, impartido en castellano y orientado a profesionales, académicos y gestores de proyectos, tiene como objetivo principal dotar a los participantes de las habilidades, conocimientos necesarios para diseñar proyectos europeos competitivos y facilitar herramientas y recursos para gestionar proyectos de manera exitosa.
Finding solutions to some of the biggest challenges on how migrants and refugees can access the labour market is the main area of work of the Like Home project. This project has developed several online tools to help migrants and refuges to assess their level of competences in key areas such as literary skills, IT skills and cultural awareness.
The Babelia NGO, Pangea project (local council offices of information to migrant’ people) and the Alicante City Council organized the first workshop on “Learn to evaluate your competences” for migrants and refugees of the city of Alicante. The workshop was successfully implemented in 3 languages Spanish, Russian and Arabic on Friday 5th October at Pangea.
The 1st Training Workshop “Introduction to Sustainable Tourism” of the TOURIST Project has been taking place from 2nd to 5th October, hosted by Hue University in Hue City, Vietnam. The training workshop is being delivered by the European Partners (FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Alicante) and is being attended by representative from three Vietnamese Universities, four Thai Universities and The Thailand Community Based Tourism Institute.
Hosted by Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCM-USSH), the ENHANCE Final Conference "Challenges and Strengths of Research and Innovation Management and Implementation in Vietnam" took place on the 19th and 20th of September 2018, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, organised by International Project Management Office of the University of Alicante.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Manuel Palomar, Rector University of Alicante who thanked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, president of HCM-USSH and her team for hosting this final event and for acting as national coordinator of the ENHANCE project.
CIPnet project partners have conducted a study visit to the University of Alicante. This is the second project event, following the Kick-off meeting and study visit to Jagiellonian University in Kraków last March.
The welcome to the Study Visit was given by Prof. Dr. Juan Llopis, Vice-President for International Relations of the University of Alicante. The Study Visit has been attended by Professors of Law, Directors of Research Offices and Directors of Technology Transfer Offices from seven Chinese Universities and also by two representatives from Jagiellonian University, project coordinator.
