2nd National Roundtable Discussion took place in Philippines, Coron on March 7-11, 2022 and resulted one of the biggest offline events in Post-COVID time. The Conference had two parts: the 2nd National Round Table Discussion and two workshops. These activities were delivered via the Training the Trainers approach so that the knowledge can be replicated/cascaded to future audiences and beyond in the later stage of the project. The 2nd NRTD served as a preparation for drafting of the “Policy Roadmap for the Implementation of Strategies in the Internationalization of Higher Education in the Philippines”.
The ANTENA project held yesterday (Jan 12th) and today (Jan 13th) the first part of training workshops 3 and 4 on Fundraising opportunities and Project management, and Internationalization and Globalization respectively.
Both workshops are coordinated by the Institutional Project Management Office of the University of Alicante and will be delivered in two phases. The first phase was held online and was attended by 48 people from 10 Philippine universities, the CHED and the 3 European partner institutions: EFMD, UM and the UA.
The third workshop, Fundraising opportunities and Project management, was prepared by the UA team. It was divided into three theoretical parts. The first part was on International Fundraising for HEIs, delivered by Dr. Roberto Escarré, Director of OGPI, who shared interesting information about the fundraising process, the sources of funding for HEIs, the main activities funded by donors, among other points related to the topic.
OPEN Consortium organised the 2nd OPEN Online Training throughout the months of June and July. Representatives from the 5 Laotian Higher Education institutions of the OPEN consortium and the Ministry of Education gather together to take part in these meetings. They worked on successive theoretical and practical sessions of training, scheduled during the whole month on to instruct and guide them through the process of formulating their Internationalisation Strategic Plans.
Today, Wednesday June 16th, 2021, the ANTENA project - Internationalization of Higher Education at the Philippines Network held the III Online Conference entitled International Accreditation, an event organized by the University of Alicante in coordination with EFMD. The conference was given by Dr. Christophe Terrasse, Director EFMD International Projects, with his extensive experience in the subject offered to all participants a substantial “Menu” of knowledge.
OPEN Consortium celebrated the 1st National Round Table in Vientiane (Lao PDR) on 4tth March 2021. The gathering was attended by the Vice minister of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), high-representatives from other ministerial bodies of the Lao PDR government and the European Union Ambassador to Lao PDR. During the meeting, 2 crucial publications, as result of the coordinated work of the OPEN consortium, were officially presented to the audience: “Needs Analysis“document and the “International Relationships Offices Management Guide”.
They were joined by a numerous delegation of at least 50 participants of the Higher Education Institutions of Lao PDR, including high-representatives from the managerial staff, representatives from international organisations, together with the members of the International Relationships Offices of the 5 public Universities which take part in the OPEN consortium. The 1st OPEN National Round Table was a blended conference in which Laotian partners participated on face-to-face basis, congregating in the Crowne Plaza Hotel of Vientiane, and the EU representatives of the OPEN project from Italy and Spain contributed online.
On December 17th, 2020, took place the 1st On-line Conference of the ANTENA project entitled Internationalization of Research, coordinated by the University of Alicante. This activity is the beginning of a series of conferences whose objective is to present topics of interest to the partners within the framework of the project, as well as to open a space to share good practices and enriching experiences of the consortium. This initiative arises to keep learning active and temporarily replace the project's training plan until global mobility is activated and ANTENA's face-to-face workshops and activities are resumed.
This on-line conference was in the hands of Dr. Roberto Escarré, Research Management Service Director of the University of Alicante, where he shared the theory, motivations, measurement as well as institutional and individual practices in the matter.
The OPEN project held its 1st training of trainers module which due to the COVID-19 emergency was organised on-line from November 9th to 12th, 2020 for the staff from 5 Universities International Relations Offices and Ministry of Education and Sports in Lao PDR. The training was jointly delivered by the University of Alicante and the University of Bologna.

OPEN partners met on July, 8th for the 2nd Virtual meeting to follow up on project progress and activities made so far. The main discussion was focused on the advances related to the WP 1: Need Analysis. A recent survey “The state of internationalisation in Laos: need analysis & mission sharing”, developed by UNIBO, was successfully completed by all Laotian partners
On July 15 and 16 took place the first ANTENA Project’s First National Round Table and Coordination Meeting, held at De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila (The Philippines). ANTENA Project, an initiative co-funded by the European Commission and coordinated by OGPI, aims to boost the internationalization of Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs).
During the event initial findings from the national survey it conducted on internationalization in and of Philippine HEIs.
