The University of Alicante hosted more than 30 representatives from 4 Moroccan and  4 Egyptian Universities in order to train them on inclusion and accessibility for students with disabilities from 17th to 21st February.  Within the framework of the PACES - Progression of Accessibility Centres in Higher Education for Students with Disabilities in North Africa, the University of Alicante contributed with their expertise on disability to share practices and lessons learnt on how to develop an inclusive Higher Education environment.

 

 

Therefore, partners had the opportunity to work closely with the staff of the Student Support Center of the University of Alicante on improving their peer to peer-volunteering services, understanding the experiences of students with disabilities at the University as well as harnessing the application of Assistive Technology to increase the scope of these inclusion actions. Besides that, partners also visited the Archaeologic Museum of Alicante which displays a very innovative and cutting-edge system on accessibility collection, providing an excellent example for inclusion on didactics and tourism.

From 8th October to 10th October 2019, a representative of the International Project Management Office (OGPI) participated in the PACES Workshop on Employability of Higher Education:  “Progression of Accessibility Centers in Higher Education for Students with Disabilities in North Africa" and  the PACES Management Meeting held in the city of Rabat (Morocco).

 

During the event, PACES project gathered colleagues from 4 universities from Morocco, 4 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from  Egypt, 1 from Slovenia, 1 from Greece and 1 from United Kingdom, hosted by the University Mohammed V from Rabat. The action allowed to launch a very productive space to share good practices on inclusive policies for students with disabilities in the context of Higher Education. The event counted with the participation of different representatives  from the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Women affaires, Solidarity, Family, and Social Development and the Ministry of Labor from Morocco.

From 12th March to 15th March 2019, a delegation of the International Project Management Office (OGPI), together with representatives from Student Support Center of the University of Alicante, participated in the 1st PACES Workshop on Employability of Higher Education Graduates with Special Needs and the PACES Mid-Project Management Meeting in the city of Cairo (Egypt).

During the event, they joined colleagues from 4 universities from Morocco, 4 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from  Egypt, 1 from Slovenia, 1 from Greece and 1 from United Kingdom. It  was a very productive opportunity to share expertise on accessibility to Higher Education, work with student with disabilities and discuss issues linked to international project management strategies within the sector of Higher Education. Partners also reached important agreements to orientate the implementation of future activities in the project, which comprise the creating of Volunteer Support Scheme at partners institutions lead by the University of Alicante.
