Despite growth and achievement, HE in Cambodia still confronts some challenges including access, quality, equity, relevancy, funding, management and administration. As a result, significant support is required to provide them with advanced capability to generate high-quality graduates who meet labor market requirements and international standards. MoEYS and the HEIs in Cambodia have a urgent need to work together and to produce a detailed policy paper to implement internationalisation strategies that will accompany the MoEYS policy reform. It also shall give clear instructions and reference to the departments involved to support them in their process towards the implementation of int. activities such as student exchange, research collaboration and academic networking. On institutional level the Cambodian HEIs lack of specialised staff in IROs, unbalanced mobility flows of students and staff, difficulties regarding the recognition of credits, lack of internationalisation strategies, lack of research activities and lack of int. networking. The project will directly target the implementation of international relations policies at national level and improve management knowledge and skills for int. relations at institutional level. The main expected outputs will be achieved through experience transfer, training for capacity building, institutional sustainability, roundtables, planning procedures for internationalisation, and the network approach to formalise the project results. Publishable outputs and their subsequent dissemination will provide reference materials and extend the project reach. The main outcomes are -Reform Need Analysis & Institutional Building -Promoting HEIs governance reforms -Capacity Building through training -Networking and Sustainability The CHAIn project‘s general objective aims are at increasing the academic quality and research activities of HEIs in Cambodia through the development of internationalisation capacities.
