OGPI has participated in two international events on intellectual property issues taking place in Guatemala. Firstly, our experts were invited to participate in an international seminar on Marketing and Communication strategies for IP national offices organized by Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, in collaboration with the Patent and Trademark Office in Guatemala and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. This 3day seminar that took place in the city of Antigua (Guatemala) congregates national IP offices from different Latin American countries with a common aim: to find new ways for engaging with SMEs and raising awareness about the need of protecting their intellectual property assets before starting to commercialize their products and services.

On the other hand, OGPI was also represented in another event organized in the framework of IPKey, a project implemented by EUIPO aiming to support increased IP protection and enforcement across the Latin American region. During this event held in Guatemala city, IP experts from OGPI presented the services offered by the Latin America IPR Helpdesk, an initiative of the European Union that offers free first-line legal advise on IP related subjects as well as training, webinars and publications, especially designed for EU SMEs interested in doing business in Latin American countries.

These institutional collaborations increase the visibility of our projects and initiatives in the field of intellectual property, facilitating the expansion and strength of our links with different intellectual property institutions and projects in Latin America.
