DEFINE Focus Group
On 13th December, a Focus Group took place at the University of Alicante organised by the International Project Management Office (OGPI), in the framework of the Erasmus+ project "Digitalized Financial Education for Seniors - Interactive Scenario Gaming Solutions for Increasing Online Financial Literacy of Seniors - DEFINE". During the meeting, the DEFINE project, partnership, aims, target groups and expected results were presented by the academic director of Institutional Projects, Dr. Joaquín Marhuenda. Following the presentation of the project, the Focus Group was conducted to discuss the existing trainings and best practices on digitalized financial education, to identify the needs of seniors in the area of financial education and digital skills and find out more about the gaps between existing trainings and training needs.
The Focus Group was attended by the Director of the Permanent University of the University of Alicante, 2 students of the Permanent University, the Director of the Continuing Education of the University of Alicante, the Director of the Department of Financial Economics and Accounting of the University of Alicante, the CEO of a Technology Based Company and the former Partner Director of a Law Firm.
The DEFINE project aims to help seniors (female and male above the age of 60 years old) to increase the online financial literacy skills and competences on a horizontal level. This is connected with the main aim of the project which is to upgrade seniors´ skills in handling online financial management services, to increase their active participation at financial markets again, to decrease their costs of participation due to upgraded online IT skills, to enhance their investment possibilities and understanding which leads to a minimization of disadvantages and fraud of this target group.
